How we use your information

We use your information to operate the marketplace and keep it trustworthy. Specifically, we use it to:

• Create and manage your account.
• Show your job posts to relevant contractors, and show contractor bids to you.
• Verify contractor identities and business documentation before bidding is enabled.
• Enable messaging between homeowners and contractors.
• Send service notifications, such as when a new bid arrives.
• Detect, investigate and prevent fraud or misuse of the platform.

Sharing your information

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only in the limited circumstances below:

• With other users, as the service requires — a contractor bidding on your job can see the job details you posted, and you can see their profile.
• With service providers who help us operate the platform, such as our payment processor and hosting provider. They may only use the information to perform services for us.
• When required by law, or to protect the rights, safety and property of our users or of Buffalo Contractors.

Payment information

Card details are submitted directly to our certified payment provider and are processed on their systems. Buffalo Contractors does not receive or store full card numbers on its servers.

Data retention

We keep your information for as long as your account is active. If you close your account we delete or anonymise your personal information, except where we are required to retain records to meet legal, tax or accounting obligations, or to resolve disputes.

Your choices and rights

You can review and update most of your information from your profile at any time. Depending on where you live, you may also have the right to request a copy of your data, ask us to correct or delete it, or object to certain processing. Contact us and we will respond within the period required by applicable law.

Security

We use technical and organisational measures to protect your information, including encryption in transit and restricted internal access. No online service can be completely secure, so please use a strong, unique password and tell us promptly if you believe your account has been compromised.
